The Bairnsdale Table Tennis Club is serving up a winning mix of fun, fitness and friendly competition for players of all ages and experience levels.
The club operates three main programs: Keenagers, pennant competition and structured coaching.
Keenagers is a popular social group aimed primarily at retirees, meeting every Monday and Thursday morning.
The club’s pennant competition runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the school term, featuring three-person teams going head-to-head in a supportive environment. The competition offers an ideal opportunity for beginners to refine their skills while taking on more seasoned players.
Coaching sessions take place every Tuesday from 4.30pm to 6pm, with players of all ages and abilities welcome to participate.
Club president Brian Blythman and the hard-working committee remain committed to keeping table tennis welcoming, safe and affordable for the entire community.
One of the club’s most exciting developments is a recent surge in interest from young, enthusiastic newcomers. Local teacher Carey White, alongside dedicated senior players, has been coaching and mentoring young boys and girls as they settle into the club.
The results speak for themselves, with several junior players already climbing into top-tier competition and giving veteran players a serious run for their money.
“It’s amazing, and a little scary, how quickly their skills develop,” one long-time member remarked.
“It’s also really rewarding to see their social confidence grow.”
Whether you are looking for relaxed morning social play or competitive evening team matches, the Bairnsdale Table Tennis Club invites new members of all skill levels to grab a bat and get involved.
