Bruthen secured a thrilling two-goal “B” grade premiership, defeating a gallant Omeo Benambra in a high-quality battle.
The Bulldogs entered the finals series with three fewer wins than the Ranges, who had gone undefeated through the home-and-away season and beaten Bruthen by six goals just two weeks prior in the second semi-final.
However, the Bulldogs came to play.
Crucially, they were undeterred by previous results and held the lead when the final siren sounded.
The sides traded blows throughout a fast-paced first half. With both teams moving the ball cleanly, it was always going to come down to the finest of margins after the main break.
Bruthen and Omeo exchanged the lead repeatedly in the second half, but it was the well-drilled and experienced Bulldogs who edged to a two-goal advantage in the final five minutes.
Despite the Ranges’ best efforts, Bruthen held firm to deny them a late equaliser.
Omeo Benambra’s Sally Duguid was named best-on-court for her standout performance.
