Bairnsdale Garden Club has ushered in a fresh era following its recent annual general meeting, electing a new leadership team to head the active community group.
Sandy Turvey steps into the role of president, supported by treasurer Jan Kelly, secretary Debbie Day, and a committee of four dedicated members. The club extended its gratitude to outgoing president Tricia Schlitz for her
tireless efforts over the past 12 months.
During recent proceedings, the club honoured long-standing members Robyn Johnson and Dorothy Elleray with certificates and life membership badges in recognition of their many years of dedication.
The club’s winter program featured a diverse line-up of guest speakers, including John Ireland showcasing the Stephanie Alexander Garden Program at Clifton Creek Primary School, retired school nurse Anne Cross and Mitchell Skuta from Gardening on Country.
Members are now preparing for a major plant and bric-a-brac sale on Saturday, September 19. The stall will operate from 10.30am at the corner of Doherty and Drevermann Streets, offering a wide range of bargain plants and household items.
Bairnsdale Garden Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 1.30pm at St Mary’s Hall, with new members and visitors always welcome.
