A Victorian educational author will visit Bairnsdale next month for an author talk on inclusive education, with her books now available at Schoolworks Bookshop.
Anne Vize will be at the bookshop on October 7 at 6pm to talk about what inclusive education means and how families, teachers, support staff and young people can work together to plan resources and supports that work well in schools and early years settings.
Ms Vize has been writing books and designing resources for children and young adults who learn in different and unique ways for more than 20 years.
Her work spans books on inclusive education and disability, as well as digital and print resources for teachers working with older students building literacy, numeracy and work readiness skills as they prepare for the adult world of work and independence.
Her most recent book series, Inclusive Education, covers ADHD, Autism, Communication Needs, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, and is published in Australia and New Zealand by Essential Resources.
The past two years have been spent revisiting and updating some of her earlier titles to create a new set of resources focused on inclusive and specialist education.
“It’s amazing to see how much things have changed, but also how the fundamentals that really matter still apply,” Ms Vize said of two decades of writing in education.
She noted that AI has been the latest game changer in education, making its presence felt in classrooms across the country as teachers and students come to terms with what it means for the future of teaching and learning.
“Visiting the East Gippsland community gives me the chance to learn more about what works for young people with disability, and to share a little of what I’ve learnt over the years as a writer in education,” she said.
