The Twin Rivers Book Exchange, a project of the Twin Rivers Lions Club, operates from the Lions Shed at the Swan Reach Recreational Reserve on a Tuesday (10am – 2pm) and on the third Sunday morning of the month.
Patronage at the Book Exchange has been steadily growing.
Over the past 12 months the public have borrowed 3500 books from an extensive range of novels held at the exchange, and the cxchange has accepted more than 4000 returned or donated books to replenish the shelves, which currently hold novels, Australian authors and large print books.
People come to the Book Exchange from as far as Lakes Entrance, Orbost, Bairnsdale, Paynesville and the Twin Rivers District.
Following recent fundraising, generous donations and a grant from the Australian Lions Foundation, the club was able to glass in the front of the book exchange area, which prior was open to the elements when the exchange
roller door was open.
This much needed upgrade to this community facility has resulted in an improved internal environment by reducing dust, leaves, rain and moisture entering the building.
The book collection is now better protected and there is a more pleasant area in which community members can make their reading selections.
The Lions Club wishes to thank everyone who supports the book exchange by making use of this facility, and donating books in good condition.
There is no cost to borrow books, but donations are appreciated.
Club members and volunteers ensure everyone is welcome, and can also assist in locating your favourite authors.
If the book cannot be found on the shelves it may be found in the back-up storage area.
