Three powerful and moving exhibitions opened recently at East Gippsland Art Gallery to a large crowd, some of whom travelled from far and wide to celebrate the launch of these very special exhibitions.
South East NOW 2024 is a group show with works by Leann J. Edwards, Alfie Hudson, Alice-Ann Pepper, Ronald Edwards-Pepper, Chris Mongta, Patricia Pittman, Alan Solomon and Ray Thomas.
In the east Gallery, are Bradley Brown, Warriors and in the Sideshow and Vault spaces are Jennifer Mullett and Ben Pender.
Shay Terrick welcomed everyone to Country and Bradley Brown gave a moving and inspiring speech about life, family, the evolution of his artwork and his relationship with God.
Bradley Brown said about his epic painting, Power n Love, “This artwork is abstract in nature, a painting from my spirit.
“I love painting in this style because it has a deep appearance and even deeper meaning.
“The colours I use to express this painting which is every colour I could get a hold of, represents everything I know that exists, and all the knowledge I know and the journey and all of experiences of my time I have spent here in this life, and also speaks of my faith in God.
“White paint takes centre stage in this artwork which is symbolic of the root system in the ground also the river systems of lightning, electricity and power. It is also symbolic of my life and the good and the bad.
“This artwork reminds me to take authority in life to love God, myself, family and those around me, and not to take them for granted.”
The gallery is hosting artist talks, school visits and workshops with Bradley and Sarah Brown during this show.
Don’t miss these three exhibitions – they are on until July 27, 2024. Entry is free.
