With two rounds to go the Omeo and District Football Netball League, the final four looks to be decided.
Fifth-placed Buchan is mathematically still a viable finals chance, but would need a miracle to get above Swifts Creek given the Demons’ recent form.
With two rounds remaining the top four sides will be finalising the qualifying of players for finals, resting players who are injured and looking at settling their lines up for the campaign ahead.
Lindenow South will host Buchan this Saturday, the Swampies will be desperate to get back in winning form after consecutive losses to Swan Reach and Swifts Creek.
It’s unlikely the Cavemen will have the artillery to combat South.
Swifts Creek is at home to Swan Reach, who have showed significant improvement in the second half of the season, although they were found wanting last week against the Alpine Ranges.
Swifts Creek has been building in recent weeks, bouncing back from a disappointing loss to Bruthen, getting over the top of Lindenow South last week.
If the right Swifts Creek team turns up it will be much too good for the Swans, but the Demons have lacked consistency.
The match of the round sees Bruthen at home to Omeo Benambra, which presents the Bulldogs another chance to claim a big scalp.
Bruthen were slow starters, improving significantly in the early weeks, before stagnating mid season, unable to make an impression against the two major players in Omeo Benambra and Lindenow South.
If the Bulldogs are to be a legitimate finals player, they will need to claim a big scalp sooner rather than later.
