Bairnsdale Football Netball Club (BFNC) senior football coach, Logan Austin, will not continue in the role in 2025.
In a non-football decision, Logan and his wife Iona have decided to return to Adelaide to live, meaning the Redlegs are on the hunt for a new leader in 2025.
“Since joining BFNC, Logan has laid a solid foundation that has propelled the team forward. Under his leadership, wins per season have quadrupled and with two games remaining this season this number could rise,” the club said in a statement.
“Logan made a courageous move in taking on the coaching role (his first) following two interrupted seasons due to pandemic lockdowns. It was even more-so considering the operating format (distance) was not the coaching norm. Across three seasons, with great support from his coaching group, he made it work.
“Logan has been a positive force and laid a playing foundation Bairnsdale will continue to build upon. The Redlegs are mid-transformation and are more competitive and regaining some relevance in the Gippsland League.
“The 2022 club best and fairest is an elite player whose coaching has been first class. As a player, he often sacrificed his own game for the team’s benefit. As a coach, the club has no doubt he will continue to further develop this at state league level in the near future.
“Bairnsdale’s season is far from over and the remaining games provide the club the opportunity to celebrate Logan’s contribution.
“Bairnsdale Football Netball Club appreciate Logan agreeing that his move be announced prior to the season end, providing ample time to begin the process of finding a new coach.
“The club believes in the commitment of their playing list and the growth that is to come which makes it an attractive destination for their next coach.”
The club has a process in place to secure Logan’s replacement and looks forward to a strong finish to 2024 season and even stronger 2025.
