Cecchetti Ballet Australia, the premier classical ballet dance organisation, now operating for more than 100 years in Australia, understand the importance of recreational male dancers working alongside professional male dancers to gain further insight to their needs.
Each year Cecchetti Ballet offer two ‘boys only’ classes with a dancer from the Australian Ballet Company or Australian Ballet school.
Theodore Hamer started classical ballet training with Jan Pianta, at Jan Pianta School of Dance, (JPD) in 2017, at the age of four, and has now been attending these ‘boys only’ classes for
four years.
Theodore enjoys the boys only classes, training with other young male dancers from around Victoria and has recently returned from Melbourne where he participated in a class with tutor, Christiano Martino, from Australian Ballet.
Jan said Theodore has potential, so it is important that these classes are promoted and attended.
Former male dancers taught by Jan went onto successful full-time training at National Theatre Ballet School, Australian Ballet ITP, VCASS and Conservatoire of Classical Ballet.
Theodore also studies national character dance and has participated in boys only jazz classes at JPSD for end of year performance routines.
