A record gate of $20,500 endured four seasons of weather at Bairnsdale City Oval on Saturday as Stratford and Wy Yung came away the big winners on East Gippsland Football Netball League grand final day on Saturday.
The Swans were the victors in a senior football slugfest, beating a strong-willed Lakes Entrance by 10 points thanks to six goals from best afield, Josh Kiss, while on the netball court it was Wy Yung who saluted in “A” grade with a 15-goal triumph against Lindenow, led by a best-on-court performance from Tigers coach, Erica Lynch. The football premierships were shared with Lucknow (reserves), Lindenow (under 18) and Lakes Entrance (under 16) earning the spoils.
The Seagulls had a memorable day on the netball court with their 15 and under, “D” grade and “B” grade teams earning premiership silverware. Stratford claimed “C” grade and Wy Yung the 17 and under, meaning Orbost Snowy, Boisdale Briagolong and Paynesville were the clubs unable to take home a trophy.
