Grand Lodge of Freemasons Victoria has recently made some big changes, both geographically and with personnel.
Locally, the previous District known as Gippsland East District 105 which covered from the New South Wales border, south to include Morwell and west to Omeo, has been extended further south to include Cowes/Phillip Island and West to Warragul.
The District Coordinator for
Gippsland East District 105, Darrell Traplin has been widely congratulated for his Grand Rank promotion and appointment by
Grand Lodge to District Coordinator for the now-called expanded South East District 105.
Darrell’s promotion by Grand Lodge recognises the hard work he does in supporting Freemasonry in the District, especially the individual Lodges. His work varies from representing Grand Lodge at Lodge’s monthly meetings, being secretary of his own lodge, Gippsland Lakes No 715 at Lakes Entrance. He also represents the district
when applying to the Freemasons Foundation for their support to underwrite Lodges activities with charitable causes. And much more.
Darrell is now busy drawing up his district panel, lodge officers from the district to form the executive and ex-officio and lodge support officers to administer the expanded District on behalf of Grand Lodge.
Secretary of Bairnsdale Daylight Lodge No 877, Jim Jolly, remarks that “we shall not see Darrell so often as he covers his broader area, his jovial presence, advice, knowledge and encouragement will be missed”.
This is also the time of year when Grand Lodge acknowledges the work of Freemasons in their own lodges, and several good men have been recognised with promotions and conferrals. Indeed, a few local good men have been further recognised with Grand Lodge rank.
Besides the creation of expanded districts, Grand Lodge has restructured Grand Lodge Teams that represent Grand Lodge in formal engagements, especially in a local context, of conducting lodge Installations.
The month of May is busy in this area for installations, and lodges are looking forward to meeting members of the newly created grand lodge teams, several of whom are locally known, and are to be congratulated for their dedication to the craft.
