Ten-year-old Ella McInnes started classical ballet training at Jan Pianta School of Dance (JPSD) from the age three and hasn’t looked back for all that she has been able to achieve due to the wonderful opportunities provided at the dance school.
Ella attends two classical ballet classes, a jazz, a tap, a hip hop, a contemporary and a private each week – a total of seven classes a week. Her mother says “she just loves her classes and loves being able to perform”.
Only a few weeks ago, Ella travelled to Melbourne to attend auditions offered by the State Youth Ballet Company (SYBC) in the hope of being selected to participate in SYBC production of Peter Pan in July of this year.
The auditions were held at The Round Theatre in Nunawading. Ella participated in the first round of auditions, then waited around to learn if she received a call back. To Ella’s excitement she did, having to display further skills and stage performance qualities to the selection panel.
With Ella now back home, notification came early to say she had been successful and was selected. This is the second dancer from JPSD in three years to have been chosen to join the SYBC.
“Another great achievement,” Jan Pianta said.
“I will look forward to watching Ella perform on stage at The Round Theatre, the same theatre where I have watched my previous SYBC dancer perform and the same theatre where other JPSD dancers have performed when they were being part of Southern Federation of Dance annual dance Eisteddfods.”
