Unbeaten Stratford boxer, Max Reeves, will look to continue his rise through the Australian boxing ranks, when he defends his Australian Super Middleweight title for the second time on June 29 at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne.
Reeves will tackle Abdul Abdulrahman on former world champion-turned promoter, Wil Tomlinson’s Wildfighter Fury card, that is sure to attract at huge crowd in Albert Park.
The New South Wales based Abdulrahman has built an imposing record with 12 impressive wins from his 13 bouts, including a phonemail 10 knockout finishes.
It’s an impressive resume, but Abdulrahman certainly hasn’t got into the ring with anyone who has the ability and reputation of the quietly spoken Reeves, who is trained in Bairnsdale by Paul Carroll.
Reeves has put together an impressive record of 10 unbeaten fights, highlighted by his recent defence of his title in Sale on March 23, where he defeated
Queensland tough guy, Adrian Rodriquez in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
That 10-round bout went the distance, with Reeves winning by unanimous points decision, the three judges scoring the fight 100-89, 100-90 and 100-89.
Reeves was glad to get through 10 tough rounds, which he thinks will hold him in great stead going forward.
“It was a tough slog, it was good to test the body over the distance of the fight, the hard work certainly paid off, and I will be working just as hard in preparation for my defence,” Reeves said.
Reeves is currently in full training, which includes running, weights and sparring.
