Locus in Quo (Scene of the Crime) was born from a group of Gippsland lawyers and their friends making music together as a regular social outlet.
Last Sunday night the group held its debut performance at the Paynesville Wine Bar to a packed venue. The band’s music reflects the group’s age range across eras, from the folk and blues of the 1960s and 70s to classic rock and grunge of the 1980s.
The band members are Chris Walker, a seasoned performer, who is the lead vocalist and plays the acoustic guitar; Hilary Rigg, a regular performer and well-known as a music teacher, keeps the band members on track with her electric bass ukulele; Peter Murphy adds rhythm to the group on the electric guitar; Dave Talko Nicholas summonses his musical experience from university days and plays lead guitar; Jess Ward adds her keyboard skills to the mix; and Glenn Murray keeps the beat on the electric drums; Young guitarist, Esther Talko Nicholas, played bass guitar on the night for the song Wagon Wheel, co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor.
The band members act on opposing sides in their day jobs. When they come together to play music, they put their arguments to one side and have fun. The full house at the Paynesville Wine Bar enjoyed themselves, too, and look forward to the band’s next performance.
Wawazat, consisting of duo Hilary Rigg and Collin Brimblecombe, played the warmup act which was enjoyed by all.
