Fishing clubs across Victoria are getting a helping hand to upgrade facilities, boost their membership and encourage the next generation of recreational fishers, with new grants backing community-based clubs thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Outdoor Recreation Steve Dimopoulos recently announced 12 grants awarded to local clubs through the Labor Government’s Stronger Fishing Club Grants, made possible through the reinvestment of fishing licence fees.
The program will support clubs with grants of up to $10,000, with recipients including the Omeo Angling Club ($7400) who will benefit from new roofing, clubroom windows and a mobile signal booster and eftpos system so the club can thrive for generations to come.
Another local benefactor is the Bairnsdale Fly Fishers ($9899), which will be used on solar equipment, machinery, a mower shed and to upgrade the clubs website.
