Boisdale Briagolong and Orbost Snowy Rovers are celebrating East Gippsland Football Netball League triumphs.
The Bombers broke a 23-year senior football premiership drought by defeating Lucknow by 32 points at Bairnsdale City Oval last Saturday, while the Blues caused the ultimate upset in the “A” grade netball, beating minor premier Lucknow by seven goals. The Magpies had only lost one previous match for the season before falling in the grand final.
Boisdale gun Tom Jolly won the best-on-ground medallion, kicking four goals in a 30-possession game, while Blues defender Jorja Savory was best-on-court in the “A” grade netball.
The EGFNL recorded a gate of close to $20,000, the bumper crowd enjoying outstanding conditions as seven of the league’s eight clubs were represented on its biggest day.
Five of those clubs – Boisdale Briagolong, Orbost Snowy, Lucknow, Wy Yung and Lindenow took home the premiership spoils across the three football and six netball grades.
