Bairnsdale Croquet Club members were well represented in the Gippsland Croquet Association Golf Croquet Championships this year.
Dennis Saxton won section one and went on to represent the region at the Croquet Victoria Regional Championships where he came seventh in a field of 13.
Graeme Bennett won section two of the Gippsland event but unfortunately was unable to participate in the Croquet Victorian Regional Championships.
They were awarded their medals by Bairnsdale president, Judy Hodder.
Bairnsdale Croquet Club continues to be in a strong position with prospective new members coming to try out.
The club is fortunate to have two qualified coaches and referees who are able to prepare new players, as well as assisting current members to improve their game.
Australia wide, croquet is a growing sport for older sports people who move from playing bowls and golf, and excellent for those who have not played sport before.
The nature of gentle exercise, strategic thinking and social interaction is appealing, together with the inclusive nature of the sport to accommodate a range of physical and mental abilities.
