With the 2024 Maffra and District Car Club’s Boisdale Hillclimb Series drawing towards its end, round seven was held recently with more than 80 drivers gathering to race against the clock.
Junior and Senior drivers alike negotiated the long track version of the gravel course, with conditions starting off wet but drying quickly as the event progressed.
Buggy drivers dominated early on with blistering times recorded as they slid around the track to the spectators delight.
After seven “runs”, Greg Ackland won the meeting outright with a time of 57.27 seconds in the narrowest of margins, over fellow buggy driver Harrison Schultz, who recorded 57.29 seconds.
Matt Muir came in third mere tenths of a second behind with a time of 57.93 seconds.
Fastest junior driver was Ozzy Muir with a time rivalling those of his senior counterparts, in 58.25 seconds.
Stand out drives by fellow junior members Cooper Clutterbuck, Riley Callow and Charlie Gellie also should be noted.
The ladies class was also closely contested, with Lee Wallace fastest in a time of 66.60 seconds, over Molly Grist and Breanna Butcher with 69.41 and 71.98 seconds respectively.
The final race meeting for the 2024 season will be the time honoured Noel Burley Memorial Twilight Hillclimb, to be held at the Boisdale Hillclimb Track on Saturday, November 9.
The event will be held over the short track format, with racing commencing at 1.00pm and continue into the evening, before the perpetual trophies are presented to winners.
