With the good weather upon us and the pennant competitions up and running it’s a busy time at the Bairnsdale Tennis Club.
In another huge week for the club, it held its annual general meeting, Saturday morning junior competition and pickleball, a trivia night and the club championships on Sunday.
The women’s club championship was taken out by Amber Archer, who defeated Bella Prince 6-2 6-3 in a high-quality final.
In the men’s Scott McDonald narrowly defeated Campbell Scott in the final 2-6, 6-1 and 10-8 in an epic contest.
Pickleball one of the fastest growing sports in the country and is beginning to become popular with members and visitors keen to give it a try.
Corporate tennis is up and running, with last week’s winners Lindenow Primary School, Randoms, Elliotts Landscape and Design and Slates Cleaning.
Lindenow has shot to the front of the table with an incredible percentage of 277.
The next round is on Friday, November 8, and sees Bulmers Farms plays East Gippsland Water, Todd Plumbing Supplies take on Slates Cleaning, EG Catchment Authority against Elliotts Landscape and Design, with The Randoms and Lindenow Primary School doing battle.
