After four rounds of the Gippsland Bowls Region midweek competition, Sale, Lakes Entrance and Stratford currently sit in the top three in the premier division, all with three wins from four matches.
Ladder leader, Sale clean swept Bairnsdale at home last week, comprehensively getting the points 80-41.
The competition’s only unbeaten quartet – Gail Mckenzie, Pamela Carter, Michael Dowd and Neal Taylor – went on their winning way, again impressive winners, 29-13 as were Bruce Melrose, Margaret Scenery, Raymond Kennedy, Dennis Young (27-11) and Rhonda Cook, Peter Stephenson, Peter Leslie and Rod Morris (24-17).
Defending champion Lakes Entrance returned to form with a bang, maintaining second place by annihilating Howitt Park 95-44 at home.
Mike McKay, Jim Northe, Jenny and Kevin Dowie maintained their outstanding recent form, winning comprehensively 37-10.
Maurice Carroll, Margaret Brandhoj, Bill Rowley, Joanne Martin (32-21) and Ron Baylis, Doreen Edwards, Gail Palmer and David South (26-13) all joined in the rout.
Third-placed Stratford made it three wins in a row, proving too good for neighbour Maffra, 63-54, at the Maffra Bowling Club in a match that was up for grabs right to the end.
Denis Downey, Anne Renehan, Alan Boyd, Leonie Flynn (18-17), and June Richardson, Michael Benson, Kirstie White and Jan Morton (22-11) all winners for Stratford.
In-form combination Laurence Cameron, Frederick Morgan, Glenn Conduit and John Spencer got a rink back for Maffra, playing some outstanding late ends, winning a tight contest 26-23.
Fourth placed Heyfield strung together its second win in a row, overcoming Paynesville in the final ends to win, 58-51.
Good performers for Heyfield were Sandra Holmes, Jill Anderson, Rod Sherrin, Shane Holmes (23-15) and Chris Sherrin, Ian Barbour, Charlie Wojcinski and Bert Middlehuis (26-11).
David Seaborne, Dennis Moroney, Peter Hardy and John Budge (25-9) were the only victors for Paynesville.
