The official 2025 fixture for the Gippsland League has been released, with the region’s strongest competition set to kick off on April 5, 2025.
The schedule will feature 18 home and away matches, with the finals series to begin on the final weekend of August, leading into the in the first weekend of September, culminating in the grand final on September 20.
Season 2025 will begin with a number of key matchups and local rivalries headlined by the senior grand final rematch with Traralgon taking on Leongatha at Terry Hunter Oval.
The Maroons will unfurl the premiership flag in a twilight time slot.
The Battle of the Birds between Maffra and Sale will also be a key fixture to look out for on the Sunday in the opening weekend of matches, while Bairnsdale will host Moe.
Bairnsdale and Moe will both continue their MND theme match days on the King’s Birthday weekend in round eight with the Redlegs this year hosting Traralgon.
This year’s draw also contains three significant league-run theme rounds.
The annual Mental Health Round returns to round two in the fixture after a successful move into that slot in 2024, and will again be one of the highlights on the calendar.
The annual Orange Round will again be scheduled in June with the introduction of an Indigenous recognition round to take place in the 2025 fixture.
The byes will fall on Easter and in the July school holidays again with the All-Stars grand final set for the bye weekend in the July school holidays.
Round seven will also feature a bye with a split round being re-introduced to provide a break for clubs leading into June. Drouin football and netball matches will be relocated during the season due to ground resurfacing works at Drouin Recreation Reserve.
The venues for Drouin home matches will be advised at a later date.
