New edition to the Metung kennel of Harley Whelan, Blazing Dino, was successful at the Sale Greyhound Club meeting last Sunday night.
Having just its second start for Whelan, Blazing Dino raced close to lead before powering away to win in the impressive time of 24.20 for the 435 metre distance.
Starting at $3.70, Blazing Dino proved too slick for Solar Spectrum and Dr Yannick.
A 34 kilogram dog from the May 2022 unison of Aussie Infrared and Quick Paws, Blazing Dino is owned by the Bros in Arms syndicate and has now amassed $18,205 from 23 starts, with six wins and 11 placings.
Now Whelan has found the key to the brindle speedster, more wins look in store in the coming weeks.
The Sale track was on fire last Sunday night which isn’t surprising with the 2024 Sale Cup just around the corner on Boxing Day.
Sunday’s meeting saw two track records lowed, the 510 metre distance by Nangar Jim (28.421) for Bundalaguah trainer Ken Bailey and the 640 metre staying test by Ethanol Water for legendary Anakie trainer Tom Dailly.
