Bairnsdale Soccer Club’s Spring Futsal competition concluded last week with the playing of three competitive grand finals at the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
The under 9s kicked off the proceedings with the Bulls and Ninjas going head-to-head in an action packed encounter with very little if nothing separating the two sides over two tight halves.
So close was the match it went to extra time and penalties – lots of penalties – after the scores were locked at 7-7 after extra time.
The Bulls won the final shoot out with Tyler Rykers named player of the match.
Other seasonal awards were presented to Daniel Alwyn (MVP), Oscar McCoughey (runner-up MVP) and Arthur Halligan (club award).
The under 13s was just as close and intense, with the Dragons winning 3-2 over the gallant Jaguars, with Harlen Calabro player of the match.
Leon Alwyn (MVP), Asher White (runner-up MVP) and Lauren Hine (club award) were all awarded trophies for outstanding seasons.
The senior finale was dominated by the Northern Muppets who were 7-4 victors over Victory, with James Alder player of the match.
The MVP award was hotly contested, a three-way tie between Kane Ashwood, James Alder and Pat Whelan, with the golden boot going to Tom Forster and golden gloves to Adam Reidy.
