A young Benambra woman was forced to spend the night in her car after becoming stuck in snow on the Benambra-Corryong Road.
Rhiannon O’Doherty had set out to head to her boyfriend’s place in Wodonga, unaware that heavy snow had been falling on the unsealed road last Sunday afternoon.
After slipping and sliding in her Toyota RAV4 All-Wheel Drive (AWD), Ms O’Doherty became stuck in thick snow at about 4.45pm on Mount Sassafras.
“I was at the highest point of the mountain at this stage when I became stuck,” Ms O’Doherty told the Advertiser.
“The snow was really deep, it came up to my knees,” the 27-year-old psychology student said.
Unable to call for help because mobile phone reception was out of range, Ms O’Doherty admitted to being “pretty frightened”.
