Uncle Alan Coe is the chair of Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Co-Operative (GEGAC). A proud Wiradjuri, Eora and Yorta Yora man, Uncle Alan says NAIDOC Week is about strengthening culture that enhances the lives of Aboriginal people. "NAIDOC for me is memories of growing up and how our families watched over and cared for each other, which is part of being Aboriginal,” said Uncle Alan.

Time flies in Omeo

PODCAST - Leonie Pendergast is a shining example that you are never too old to work. At 86 years young she has decided to reopen her Omeo business after closing it down two years ago and then realizing retirement wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The Cuckoo Clock shop, specializing in handcrafted German clocks, has now reopened in Omeo's main street and Mrs Pendergast couldn’t be happier.

Ocean Fishing

Lakes Entrance based fisherman, Chris Newman, comes from a family with a long history in fishing.  Mr Newman is a fourth generation ocean fisherman and his fishing boats ply the high seas each week to bring in supplies for both local consumption and city markets.
