Bairnsdale played its best quarter of football for the season when it mattered, blowing Warragul away in the final quarter of the Gippsland League match at the Bairnsdale Oval, winning by 41 points.
The Gulls led by 14 points at quarter time after kicking with assistance of a strong wind to the morass end, the Redlegs kicking seven goals to two in the second term to hold a handy 16 point lead at half time.
Brayden McCarrey was in outstanding form, booting four first half goals and finishing with five for the match.
Gulls ruckman, Sam Whibley, was giving his side first use of the ball and Brad Hefford did an outstanding job restricting ball magnet, Will Mitchell to just 23 disposals for the match, Mitchell becoming increasingly frustrated as the match wore on.
Warragul had plenty of opportunities with the wind in the third quarter to establish a break, but thankfully for the Redlegs they were wasteful kicking 4.7 to 2.4, Bairnsdale holding a two point advantage at three quarter time.
