The weekend’s inclement weather caused the abandonment of the Golf East Gippsland 4BBB Championship event that was scheduled for Maffra last Sunday.
It was disappointing with 100 players set to tee up, but the event will be rescheduled for another date in the near future.
The annual general meeting of Golf East Gippsland still went ahead, with a number of delegates and interested persons in attendance.
The meeting saw the election of the executive and committee for 2025, which will be headed up by president, Brett Wyllie (Tambo Valley/South Pines), who will be assisted by vice president, Lucy Haussegger (South Pines) and secretary/treasurer, Sue Horsford (Maffra).
The women’s captain is Chris Munday, and the men’s Neill Tacey, both from the Maffra Golf Club.
Other elected committee members were Nadine Martin (Bairnsdale/Lakes Entrance) and Greg Meldrum (Maffra).
The new executive was full of praise for the efforts of outgoing president, Karin Liedke who has done an outstanding job in leading the district since the amalgamation.
The next major event to be played is the Golf East Gippsland mixed foursomes which will be played at South Pines.
