Leading Senior Constable Allison Triggs challenged Paynesville Probus members with her talk about community policing recently.
Allison asked members to start thinking about crime prevention.
She pointed out many of the things that people don’t do in their daily lives to prevent crime such as not locking their doors, leaving keys in cars and leaving garages open as well as leaving spare house keys in obvious places.
She told the club to not let your home look deserted if you are away for any length of time and consider getting automatic lighting and surveillance.
As a Community Policing Officer, Allison talks to school children, multicultural groups and seniors groups.
Allison also spent some time telling the group about scams and how best to avoid them.
Probus members asked numerous questions and Allison was able to give lots of sound advice, derived from her 14 years of experience.
Club members went away with a greater appreciation of how the general public can play a role in crime prevention.
