The Lucknow Magpies are the 2024/25 Bairnsdale Cricket Association under 13 division one premiers, defeating a gallant Lindenow South Glenaladale at Hudson-Alvin Oval last Friday evening.
The final set up in the under 13 competition sees the top two sides progress to the play to the grand final, with the Magpies (11 wins) and the Bulls (10 wins) both worthy contenders after outstanding home and away seasons.
The Bulls won the bat flip and sent the Magpies in and would have been relatively happy having restricted them to 7/83 from the 20 overs allowed offered to each team.
Oakley Hughes and Fletcher Watt were standouts at the top of the order for Lucknow, both impressing making 15 before retiring.
Jimmy Henger contributed a vital 13 not out in the middle order, which was pivotal in the victory.
Angus Durie was the leading wicket taker for the Bulls taking 2/2.
Lindenow South Glenaladale batted solidly and finished their overs on 4/64, led by Cooper Jansz (15) and Jack White (16), both retiring unconquered.
Following the match Watt was awarded the player of match for his 15 and a wicket.
League awards were handed out as part of the presentations, with Hughes taking the batting in division one and the Bulls’ Jackson Stewart the bowling.
In division two Paynesville’s Dixie Clack was the winner of the batting, while Wy Yung’s Max Lynch took out the bowling.
