The Lone Pine seeds planted by Nicholson Primary School grade 5/6 students at this year’s ANZAC Ceremony have sprouted.
The school tree is a direct descendant of the Lone Pine at Gallipoli. Australian soldiers collected the seed and brought them home.
Unfortunately, the school tree had died so students collected it’s seed back in 2023.
These seeds required snowy winters to germinate so this has been simulated in the staff room fridge.
Now the students are keen to keep the seedlings growing so they hopefully have a new piece of history
for the school.
