Pony Club Australia recently announced its finalists for the best achievement by a rider aged 18–25, amongst the names is Stratford Pony Club’s Darcy Wade.
This award recognises young adult members who have shown exceptional commitment to Pony Club, both as riders and leaders, while balancing study, work, and life outside of horses.
The finalists have made a significant impact within their clubs and zones, excelling in competition and generously giving back through coaching, mentoring, and volunteering.
Wade has been a member of Stratford Pony Club since 2007 and is recognised as a role model within his club, zone, and state.
The talented 25 year old has represented Victoria at five Nationals and achieved consistent success in “A” Grade showjumping, including winning the Pony Club Victoria State “A” Grade Showjumping Championship in 2025.
He has also represented Australia internationally in Tetrathlon.
Equally impressive is his dedication to developing others, Wade is an accredited NCAS Level 1 coach, gear checker, EA course builder, and judge.
He volunteers widely, managing zone teams, building showjumping courses, coaching tetrathlon riders, and even running clinics for parents to help them understand showjumping.
He also serves as vice president of Sale Showjumping Club, helping run World Cup and Grand Prix events.
Known for his generosity and willingness to help, whether saddling ponies, backing floats, or flipping sausages on the barbecue, Wade is universally admired as much for his kindness as for his achievements.
His commitment to Pony Club and his contribution to the wider equestrian community are exceptional.
The other finalist are Madeleine Manton (Woodend Pony Club), Kate Duignan (Mornington Peninsula Pony Club) and Indi Smith (Moonyoonooka Horse and Pony Club)
The winner will be announced at the 2025 Pony Club Australia National Championships Annual Awards and Presentation Dinner, held on the evening of Saturday, October 4 at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.
