Locale tennis star Luke Missen has been named a finalist in the 2025 Tennis Victoria Player Awards, in the Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability category.
The Tennis Victoria Player Awards are coming up on Sunday, October 26, at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, where they will celebrate the top-performing players, from Tennis Victoria Pennant through to the international stage.
Tennis Victoria chief executive officer, Kim Kachel, sees the awards as another great opportunity to showcase everything great about Victorian tennis.
“The awards shine a light on the outstanding accomplishments of our players and coaches, highlighting the depth of talent across Victorian tennis. They’re a chance to celebrate the hard work, passion, and commitment that make our community so strong,” Kachel said.
Missen’s well-earned nomination comes hot on the heels of a doubles win in Sydney with Colin Mackay, plus standout performances in Melbourne, Barcelona and Turin, and being one of just 16 athletes invited to the US Open Para-Standing Tennis event.
Missen is currently the world number one ranked PST4 Para-Standing tennis player, European Doubles Champion and Oceania Singles Champion.
His contribution to the sport goes well beyond his own achievements, helping grow Para-Standing Tennis, having facilitated a Para-Standing Tennis event on the Gold Coast, supported many other Para-Standing Tennis events, and serving on both the Bairnsdale Tennis Club committee and the Australian Standing Adaptive Tennis committee.
