Former local Cameron White won the men’s Australian Open racquetball championship in Albury last weekend for the 22nd time.

In the final, which featured many long rallies, Cameron defeated Sam Ejtemai from Melbourne, 21-5, 21-7.

Cameron, 48, who has legend status in squash and racquetball, still remains undefeated in racquetball – a remarkable achievement.

It was a family affair at the championships with Cameron’s son, Archer (14), coming runner-up in the “D” grade competition.

Cameron is a legend of men’s Australian racquetball and his record will probably never be bettered. He still continues to build on the legend.

His record stands as such:

– 22 times Australian Open Men’s RacquetballChampion (2001, 2003-2019, 2022-2025)

– 19 times Victorian Open Men’s Racquetball Champion (2001, 2003-2017, 2019, 2024-2025)

– Unbeaten in racquetball tournaments for the past 24 years

His other achievements include:

– 27 years of experience as a squash and racquetball coach

– Manager of the Belmont Squash and Fitness Centre (2008-2012)

– 10 years as a World Professional Squash Player, achieving a career high world ranking of 48 in 2003

– 10 years as an athlete in the Victorian Institute of Sport

– Five times Victorian Open Squash Champion (2001/2002, 2004/2005 and 2007)

– 2004 World Open Doubles Squash Champion (with Byron Davis)

– Won the Australian Open Men’s Squash Doubles Championship – 2007/2008

– Victorian Squash Academy coach – 2010 – 2015

– Victorian State Junior Team Squash Coach – 2010-2013

– Tournament Director of the Victorian Open Squash Championships – 2009/2010
