All roads will lead to Bairnsdale next Tuesday for the annual Melbourne Cup Day race meet, with this year tipped to be one of the best in recent memory.
Club manager, Scott Ingram, supported by a hard-working committee, has been working hard in preparation for far East Gippsland’s biggest spring race day.
Bairnsdale Racing Club is promising a huge day of food, fashion and fun on Tuesday, backed by the excitement of the horses racing past, as the excitement builds to the race that stops the nation, the Melbourne Cup, which will be beamed larger than life, on the trackside big screen.
There will be a number of tasty food options available to tantalise and try on track, from a highly recommended Tri Acai bowl, to something sweet from Melting Momentz, the Travelling Squid never disappoints, while Guac On will be offering up loaded nachos and Mexican favourites.
If the barbecue is your desire, Grill ‘Em can accomodate you, while Doin’ Dumplings never disappoints.
The club is again making a concerted effort to make this a family day, with the kids
not left out. In fact, they will be spoilt for options.
There will be the sensational DS Sports inflatable obstacle, Wacky Wombat jumping castle, face painting, while Active Little Learners will be keeping the youngsters under control and supervised, while the adults taking in the other activities on course.
Kirribindi Farm will be adding a not-to-be missed animal experience, while Kids Corner will have giant outdoor games, mini golf and bean bag toss challenges, all with an eye to amusing and giving every child a positive racecourse experience, as they are the crowd of tomorrow.
Fashions on the Field is always competitive, sometimes even more than the races, racegoers always going to plenty of efforts and the winners always worthy.
The vibe on track this time of the year isn’t always about the horses, so the added attraction for patrons will be DJ Nige spinning the tunes between races for everyone on course to listen to.
The club reports solid general admission sales, while marquee and umbrella package sales are proving popular.
Tuesday at the Bairnsdale Racecourse will be an opportunity to see what makes the Melbourne Cup Day meeting so special.
Yes there will be racing and horses, but it’s the people who make the event and hopefully they get along and support the local club.
