The East Gippsland Zone of Pony Club (EGZ) has recognised Darcy Wade who finishes his pony club journey this month capping off over 19 years of membership.
A dedicated member of Stratford Pony Club and the EGZ, he has been a successful competitor, fantastic mentor and role model, coach, volunteer, official and
friend to many.
He has had a successful competitive career having qualified and competed at 14 consecutive state showjumping championships, 10 of these in “A” grade,
which have resulted in four
individual wins.
He has qualified for six national championships, winning three national titles and three reserve titles in showjumping and
tetrathlon, while he has competed twice at international tetrathlon level, placing fourth and and
sixth individually.
Awards have been plentiful for Wade, receiving the Pony Club Victoria (PCV) Award of Merit in 2018, PCA Best Achievement by rider 13, and under 17 in 2016 and PCA Best Achievement by rider 18, and under 25 in 2025.
Demonstrating outstanding leadership over the years has seen many clubman awards and honours, including Jan Dear Tetrathlon awards and captaining three state teams at nationals.
In more recent years he has added becoming a level one coach and qualified course builder.
