Improving Lindenow chaser, Lindenow Buffy ($2.70) showed what he was capable of last Wednesday at Sale.
The Maria Musselwhite-trained bitch made it two wins from three starts when leading all the way
in the fastest time (24.40) of the day.
The program saw plenty of tight finishes, with the majority of races won by trainers who live within 20-40 minutes of the track.
Ski Boots ($4.00) and Akina Dash ($2.60) won their respective maidens for Billy Stockdale (Fulham) and Jennifer Rowley (Denison).
The Giffard-based McMahon kennel is never far from the winner’s photographer; they scored with Dr. Katrina ($5.90).
Maffra trainer Leigh Jennings continued his good recent run when outsider Little Thief ($19.10) upset quadrella punters.
Catch a Cutie ($2.00) made it two wins in as many weeks, leading from start to finish for Briagolong trainer Cheryl Morris.
The Fulford kennel was again prominent, winning with Whisky Ninja ($3), while Rosedale’s Jeffrey Chignell saluted with Shaun Lee Rose ($1.90)
The punters were again shaking their heads when Magical Paws ($14.70) led all the way in the last race in 29.26, best of the day over 510-metre journey.
Team Delbridge dominated Sunday night’s quality 12-race card, winning with Paw Ezra ($2.40), Paw Mantra ($12.00), Paw Quark ($3.90) and Paw Lauren ($2.90), making the trip from Balliang worthwhile.
In one of the stranger things that can happen on a greyhound track, the seventh event on the card was far from straightforward after the town’s power cut out, leading to the lure stopping on the home turn during the race.
The race was declared a no race; all dogs were vetted after the race and all made it back to the kennels injury-free.
The main event was the special event over the 640 metres, which saw the clash of recent Sale Cup finalists Ascend Geranium ($1.60) and Engelke Road ($3.80), both returning to Sale after some metro success.
The Harley Whelan (Metung) prepared Ascend Geranium justified the short price, leading all the way in a slick 36.60 beating Engelke Road by almost four lengths.
Chavero ($3.90) won the grade four over 435 metres in the fastest time of the night (24.40) for Bunyip trainer Stephen Toner.
Racing returns to Sale today for a twilight meeting and Sunday for the traditional twilight fixture.
