The Bairnsdale Field Archers were well represented at the West Gippsland Branch shoot at Warragul last weekend.
Graeme Parkinson, Ben Rickhuss, Zoe Stanford, David Hattam, and Oliver Rickhuss attended the first Australian Bowhunters Association shoot of the year. Held on a temporary range, the event delivered exactly what participants expect from classic Warragul weather.
Competitors faced a mix of conditions, including light misty rain, cloudy skies, bright sunshine, and strong winds. Gusts averaged around 24 km/h but reached nearly 60 km/h at times, making the open field-style range particularly challenging.
Despite the tricky conditions, the event offered a great day of shooting, camaraderie, and a reminder that adaptability is just as important as accuracy when the weather decides to have its say.
