Bullets boom at Sale tournament

The Bairnsdale Bullets were represented by 15 teams at the annual Sale tournament last weekend, winning three premierships after two days of action.

The Bairnsdale and District Amateur Basketball Association praised the efforts of every player, coach, team manager and family member who contributed to another successful squad tournament.

Premiership-winning teams were the under 12 girls and the under 16.1 and 16.2 boys.

The under 12 girls competed in the “B” division and completed an unbeaten six-game campaign, defeating Sale 20–12 in the grand final. Match MVP Perri Smith top-scored for the Bullets with 12 points.

The 16.1 boys, coached by Sharon Royal, reversed a preliminary round loss to Maffra to defeat the Eagles 40–32 in the grand final. Match MVP Yvan Cabrera top-scored with 12 points, while Jaike Savory added 10.

The 16.2 boys played in the “B2” division and capped an unbeaten campaign by defeating the Foster Breakers 39–34 in the final. Caleb Morrison top-scored with 13 points, while Layne Peterson and MVP Caleb Morrison each contributed 10.

The under 14.1 boys advanced to the “B1” grand final, going down to Morwell Magic Black 33–22, with William Savige named MVP.

Several other Bairnsdale Bullets teams reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals.

There was victory at the Sale tournament for the Bairnsdale Bullets under 16.1 boys, who were victorious “A” division. Coach Sharon Royal is pictured with players Koby Mitchell, Jaike Savory, Yvan Cabrera, Alex Mahony, Ryder McGovern and Lucas Evans. (PS)
