Two rounds down in 2026 at the Buchan Precision Rifle Club, and February brought the heat in more ways than one.
The NRL22 February Course of Fire turned into a scorcher, though competitors were grateful for the shade of club gazebos.
The Valentine’s Day meet attracted 16 shooters, including four Eagle Park Precision Rifle Club members, who left their loved ones behind for a date with rimfire steel.
The competition ran the standard monthly Course of Fire as option one, then added two bonus stages courtesy of Matt Cunningham. These stages demanded sharp time management, clever position building, and calm thinking under pressure — the targets were fair, but the clock was relentless.
After seven stages and a total of 685.57 points, Mark Hederman claimed the overall win, with Stuart Ellam second and Warwick Smith third.
In the standard Course of Fire, Hederman was again victorious, followed by Stuart Gillahan in second and Shannoon Hederman third, rewarded for her consistent performance.
The club will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 19, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
