Last weekend’s Gap Challenge, the fiercely contested golf event between Omeo and Tambo Valley Golf Club, proved to be the biggest yet.
Saturday at Omeo saw Tambo Valley field 24 players, while Omeo had 22 competing. After a day of keen competition on the fairways and greens, Omeo held a three-shot advantage—a useful lead, but far from decisive.
Day two at Tambo Valley drew a large home contingent of 35 players, with Omeo again represented by 22. The contest remained tight throughout, with the home side finishing strongly. Despite their efforts, Tambo Valley fell short by a mere 0.361 points—an incredibly close margin.
The Omeo Golf Club returned home delighted, retaining the bragging rights in what was a thrilling and memorable edition of the Gap Challenge.
