Rugby league great Brad Fittler hosted a fun-filled afternoon at the WORLD Sporting Precinct last week as part of the National Rugby League (NRL) Hogs Tour.
The event featured a free junior clinic that created an electric atmosphere, with dozens of kids giving it their all and many discovering a new favourite sport.
Fittler — former captain of both New South Wales and Australia, and past Blues State of Origin coach — proved a hit with youngsters, who hung on his every word.
Bairnsdale was the final Victorian stop of the tour, with Fittler and the NRL Hogs team arriving on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was joined by stars Dale Finucane, Jada Taylor and Quincy Dodd.
NRL Victoria brought the tour to East Gippsland, offering a major opportunity to boost junior rugby league participation and showcase the shire’s premier sporting facility.
A highlight of the day was the arrival of the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service, giving the community a chance to see the vital service up close.
For many participants, it was their first visit to the WORLD Sporting Precinct — a venue designed to attract events like this, inspire young people, support local clubs and highlight high-quality sporting facilities.
