Residents across East Gippsland can now access a range of specialist medical services closer to home, with Epworth HealthCare specialists commencing consulting services at The Centre Combined Health in Bairnsdale.
The partnership brings several Epworth specialists to the region, who will use The Centre as their consulting base when visiting East Gippsland. Patients can attend appointments locally for consultations, treatment discussions and follow-up care, reducing the need to travel long distances to metropolitan hospitals.
Epworth HealthCare is Victoria’s largest not-for-profit private hospital group and is recognised for delivering high-quality medical, surgical and rehabilitation care across its hospital network.
The introduction of Epworth specialists to The Centre is part of a broader effort to improve access to specialist care for people living in regional communities.
“We couldn’t be more proud to be part of helping deliver specialist care closer to home,” Carolyn Donchi, owner of The Centre said.
“Enabling greater accessibility and exposure to specialist assistance is just the beginning in our aim to strengthen the already strong medical support we have here in East Gippsland.”
Several specialists are already consulting from The Centre, covering areas including general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, robotic surgery, sports & trauma surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Visiting doctors travel to the region on scheduled consulting days to see patients locally.
Patients can view specialist profiles, visiting dates and booking information via The Centre’s website. Appointments are booked directly with the specialists through the Epworth HealthCare network.
As the partnership continues to develop, additional specialists are expected to begin consulting from The Centre, expanding the range of specialist healthcare services available to the East Gippsland community.
