The redeveloped Buchan Recreation Reserve will officially open on Sunday, June 14, with the community invited to attend celebrations from 1pm.
The major upgrade, valued at $7.6 million, has transformed the precinct with a new multi-use pavilion, upgraded sporting infrastructure, improved accessibility and expanded community facilities, positioning the reserve as a key sporting, recreation and emergency gathering hub for the district.
The new pavilion includes a large, fully equipped kitchen and a flexible indoor space designed to host events, meetings and social functions. It is expected to support year-round use of the precinct and provide a central meeting place for local clubs, families and visitors.
Courts and playing surfaces have also been resurfaced, upgraded and floodlit as part of the redevelopment, aimed at improving safety and delivering higher-quality conditions for local and visiting teams.
Buchan Football Netball Club has already moved into the new facility, hosting its first function at the pavilion last weekend.
The project also delivered supporting infrastructure upgrades, including solar power installation, improved service connections and additional storage facilities, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability and future use.
The redevelopment was jointly funded across all three levels of government, including support from the Victorian Government through a Community Sport and Recreation grant program.
East Gippsland Shire Council is encouraging community members to attend the official opening and RSVP by Thursday, June 4.
