Written and directed by Jolyon James, Robot Song tells the story of 11-year-old Juniper May, whose life is thrown into complete turmoil when she receives a petition signed by her entire class declaring her “the most hated person in the school.”
When Juniper refuses to return to school and conventional solutions fail, her increasingly desperate parents turn to an extraordinary last resort: a giant singing robot.
Based on a true story, the production offers an honest, intensely funny, and deeply personal window into James’ own experience parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum.
The show combines cutting-edge digital technology, startling animatronics, and an original musical score to tackle a vital question for modern families: how do we support, foster, and celebrate difference in our children in an increasingly rigid world?

Recommended for audience members aged eight and above, two performances will take place at the Forge Theatre on Wednesday, August 5 at 6pm and Thursday, August 6 at 1pm.
