A disappointing result for the Bairnsdale Redlegs in the minor games at the Sale Oval in round 17 of the Gippsland League.
The reserves featured the competitions bottom sides, both chasing a much needed win, with Sale climbing off the bottom of the ladder with a emphatic 65 win over a disappointed Bairnsdale.
The Magpies kicked seven of the games’ 15 goals in the opening term, finding themselves 41 points in front at the first change.
From then on the match failed to reach any great heights, with only three goals kicked in the second half.
Angus Tanner, Andrew Pritchett, Mitchell Neal, Jack Cullinan, Albie Clarke, and Jason Waddell battled hard for the Redlegs.
The under 16 match was much anticipated with the third placed, Redlegs going head to head with the fifth placed, Magpies.
Similar scenario to the reserves, with the Magpies kicking five unanswered goals in the opening term, opening up a 31 point advantage.
Bairnsdale reverted to playing catch up, never getting the margin under 20 points all match, eventually succumbing by 24 points.
Seth Adams kicked three goals for Bairnsdale and Xavier Parker two, with the better players Tom Carter, Luca Desio, Tayte Gibbs, Harper Clack, and Adams.
Bairnsdale will host Maffra in the final home and away match this week at Bairnsdale City Oval.
