The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise has reassured stallholders and shoppers that it will be business as usual for the upcoming Howitt Park Market on Sunday, September 27.
Despite East Gippsland Shire Council awarding a contract to Jarvis Constructions to remove and replace the Howitt Park swing bridge, Sunrise Rotary confirms the market will experience minimal disruption during the works.
While the western entrance across the swing bridge will remain closed until Christmas, marketgoers can look forward to an expanded layout, including a larger food court featuring new food vendors alongside all the regular stallholder favourites.
Entry donations collected at this month’s market will be directed to relief efforts following the recent disaster in Nepal.
Funds will be distributed via the Rotary Australia Relief Fund, ensuring every cent reaches local Rotary clubs working on the ground with affected families.
Organisers noted that the same fund provided thousands of dollars in direct aid to East Gippsland communities following the 2019–20 bushfires, making this an important opportunity for the local community to give back.
Tax-deductible contributions can also be made via the QR code printed on market posters.
Visitors to the market can also learn about local Rotary initiatives at the main marquee, where plans for stage one of the new Sunrise Rotary Bike Education Track at Tulaba Park in Lucknow will be on display.
Information will be available on how community members can support the project – including purchasing a personalised fundraiser paver or securing tickets to the upcoming Gala Gallop Ball on Saturday, November 7.
Those interested in supporting local and international service projects are encouraged to speak with a Sunrise Rotary member at the market or visit the club’s official website and Facebook page.
