Members of the 13th Gippsland Light Horse re-enactment troop gathered for a Saturday morning training session at a private local property, trialing three new horses for upcoming parade and demonstration duties.
Host and instructor Pepe led the mounted riders and new horses through pair riding exercises before progressing to full section formations, riding three abreast. The new horses performed exceptionally well, demonstrating impressive discipline and working seamlessly alongside the experienced mounts.
Following the riding session, troop members held a brief business meeting to plan for upcoming regional appearances and community events.
The session concluded with a shared lunch featuring sausages, fresh salads and hot drinks provided by supporters.
The 13th Gippsland Light Horse members are now turning their attention toward the upcoming “Blast From the Past” heritage festival at Nyerimilang Heritage Park on Sunday, September 27, 2026, where the troop will present a full riding display and historical horse exhibition.
