The Rotary Club of Mitchell River has awarded Jenny Stephenson a Pride of Workmanship Award.
Jenny was unable to attend the club’s recent awards night and so her presentation was re-scheduled for the club’s annual change-over dinner which proved a highlight of the evening.
The award was nominated by Dr Daryl Smith from Macleod Street Medical Centre for service to the doctors, patients and the community over 55 years. Jenny started her career as a teenager and she has been a significant presence and is still employed at the medical centre.
Dr Smith said Jenny’s loyalty, integrity and work ethic is above and beyond and her many selfless acts of care, kindness and benevolence outside the workplace environment is humbling.
The Aboriginal and migrant families lovingly call her ‘Aunty Jenny’, and she is respectively called ‘Jenny from the clinic’.
Rotarian Rex Estoppey presented the certificate saying the Pride of Workmanship Award is in recognition of her work life service and an amazing job well done over her 55 years.
Jenny joins this year’s recipients with nine other worthy Rotary awardees for 2024.
