Paynesville Lions Club and the Australian Lions Foundation have donated $10745.90 to the Paynesville Ambulance Auxiliary.
This money will be used to purchase a Prompt Flex Birthing Manikin for training and development of Paynesville Ambulance staff.
There are 20 staff who require regular training in the latest birthing techniques in order for them to be able to function in these high risk situations.
The simulator will also be available for district wide training sessions.
“This allows all the staff at Paynesville to have more than just the basic training, it provides additional confidence at times we are called out for birthing emergencies,” paramedic team manager Jamie Watkinson said.
Paynesville Lions Club proposes to raise, through the staging of its monthly markets, food van operation, various raffles and other activities, the amount $5372.95.
The club has been awarded an Australian Lions Foundation Grant on a dollar for dollar basis of $5372.95 to enable the purchase.
A symbolic ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 17, for the Lions to hand over the cheque to ambulance auxiliary secretary Frances Schultz.
