Clifton Creek Tennis Club is a hive of activity every Sunday thanks to participants of all ages at coaching sessions.
The tennis club committee has been working on ensuring the courts that were redeveloped with support of bushfire recovery funds are well utilised as a community resource.
This committee includes Judy Ireland (president), Robyn Hermans (treasurer) and Debbie Andrews (secretary).
The club is fortunate to have the services of experienced professional coach, Mike Spruzen. He is well-equipped at working with people of all ages and skill levels and makes everyone feel positive about their tennis journey.
Technical skill advice is combined with fun games and activities to improve general fitness.
As well as five-year-olds starting out on the tennis court, there are adults from 30-70 years, all keen to participate in a new sport. More experienced tennis players wanting to improve their skills are also catered for in the mixed activities.
Over the past two years the club has been able to run a few special event days in addition to the coaching sessions, with another community tennis day planned for later in the year.
The rural setting of the courts, with adjacent playground and barbecue facility, all make tennis at Clifton Creek an attractive option for families.
Clifton Creek Tennis Club has been fortunate to receive grants through East Gippsland Community Foundation that has enabled it to offer free weekly coaching to anyone who pays an inexpensive membership fee, as well as provide the periodic community special event days.
